PRYER, K. M., and D. M. BRITTON. 1983. Spore studies in the genus Gymnocarpiurn. Can. J. Bot. 61: 377-388. Scanning electron microscopy was used to examine the variation in perispore characters within and between six currently recognized taxa of the genus Gyrnnocarpiurn Newm. in North America. Representative scanning electron micrographs are presented and depict the perispore features observed. Spores of those taxa studied here do not each possess a distinctive morphology providing practical species discrimination, rather they all exhibit similar patterns of variation. Spore size was also examined and shown to be correlated to ploidy level, permitting positive identification of the diploid taxon G . dryopteris ssp. disjuncturn from the tetraploid G . dryopteris ssp. dryopteris.

MACROFUNGI FLORA OF ARASBARAN 1. CORTINARIUS SUBGENUS MYXACIUM
Due to the importance of the Arasbaran forest (E. Azarbaijan, N.W. Iran) as a biosphere preserve and having a rich flora and fauna, macrofungi flora of Arasbaran region, were studied from 2003. This is the first in a series of publications on floristic studies of macrofungi of Arasbaran forests. In this paper, species of the genus Cortinarius, subgenus Myxacium are studied. The genus Cortinarius...

The results showed that Pileolaria terebinthi, type species of the genus Pileolaria is not a hemi–form or brachy–form rust species as mentioned among literature by several authors. Study on miscellaneous specimens collected from Iran and locus classicus of the species, France, revealed that P. terebinthi is an automacrocyclic rust and its aecial state is not uredinioi...
متن کاملFern Spore Longevity in Saline Water: Can Sea Bottom Sediments Maintain a Viable Spore Bank?
Freshwater and marine sediments often harbor reservoirs of plant diaspores, from which germination and establishment may occur whenever the sediment falls dry. Therewith, they form valuable records of historical inter- and intraspecific diversity, and are increasingly exploited to facilitate diversity establishment in new or restored nature areas. Yet, while ferns may constitute a considerable ...
متن کاملA Plastid Phylogeny of the Cosmopolitan Fern Family Cystopteridaceae (Polypodiopsida)
Among the novel results of recent molecular phylogenetic analyses are the unexpectedly close evolutionary relationships of the genera Acystopteris, Cystopteris, and Gymnocarpium, and the phylogenetic isolation of these genera fromWoodsia. As a consequence, these three genera have been removed from Woodsiaceae and placed into their own family, the Cystopteridaceae. Despite the ubiquity of this f...

As part of a systematic investigation of the genus Gyrnrzocnrpiiirn in North America, a survey of chromatographic profiles in species and hybrids of the genus was initiated. It was established through cluster analy...
